Council adopts the 2026-27 budget

$48.2 million, including two new firefighter positions.

The City Council adopted the fiscal year 2026-27 budget on September 15 by a vote of 4 to 1. The budget totals $48.2 million across all funds, including $21.6 million in the general fund, and takes effect October 1.

What is new this year

  • Two firefighter positions, so Station 2 is staffed with three people on every shift.
  • Replacement of the Ferry Park restroom, closed since the March flood.
  • A second street sweeper, bringing every residential street onto a monthly schedule.
  • $600,000 for sidewalk repair near schools, the first phase of a five-year plan.

What it means for residents

The property tax rate is unchanged. Water and sewer rates are not part of this budget; the Council takes up the water rate study separately this fall.

The full adopted budget and the Council’s presentation are posted with the September 15 City Council meeting. Printed copies are at City Hall and the Tallis Valley Library, Wrenfield branch.
