Hours

Permit counter weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Building permits and inspections

You need a permit for new construction, additions, decks over 30 inches, roof replacement, and most electrical, plumbing and mechanical work. Painting, flooring and cabinets do not need one.

  • Apply at the permit counter or by email with your plans as PDFs.
  • Simple permits such as water heaters and reroofs are issued the same day. Plan review for additions takes about 10 business days.
  • Request inspections by 3 p.m. for the next business day.

Zoning map and codes

The zoning map shows what can be built on each parcel. Staff at the counter can look up your address and explain setbacks, height limits and parking rules. The zoning code is Title 17 of the Wrenfield Municipal Code.

Accessory dwelling units

Most lots zoned for single-family homes can add one accessory dwelling unit up to 800 square feet, plus a junior unit inside the main house. The Planning Commission is reviewing changes to the ADU rules this year.

Planning Commission

Projects that need a conditional use permit, variance or design review go to the Planning Commission. See its meetings and agendas.
